Enews for June 2010

President’s Message for June 2010

I report to you today, of a successful Annual Meeting in Glen Burnie on May 11.  We were well represented by a full contingency of delegates who made their presence known.  More information can be found on the MRSPA website.  Be sure to check it out!  (You can get to it from our own website – PGPSRA.org.)  Last week, we met in Riderwood Senior Center – in Silver Spring for our final gathering of the year.  Officers for next year were installed, and we are set for another year of great work for our retired school employees.  We have been fortunate to maintain in office:  Ed Vest, for Treasurer; Joann Sloan, for Secretary; and Courtney Pringle, for your Corresponding Secretary.

This is my last note to you as your president.   I have resigned my position of President of PGPSRA.  Your President-Elect, Carl Lancaster, is well prepared – although not always, too eager – to accept the duties of President and will do well by you all.  As most of you know, this is something I must do in order to be able to perform my duties as President of MRSPA that will begin on July 1.  Carl will be a great resource for our association, and though I joke that he is not excited about interrupting his retirement luxury hours, he will responsibly lead us through the next two years.

It has been a joy working with you all – and I’m not going away.  You all have been patient and supportive of all that we have tried to do…and I leave you with a caring and capable board to continue the work that you all do for the retired educators of Prince George’s County.

Have a wonderful summer!
