President’s Message for January 2010

Happy New Year!

Well.  We made it this far!  What a winter we’re having….but, the snow was beautiful and made for a lovely Christmas.  I’m hoping that you all had (and are still enjoying) a great holiday and rest from the everyday hustle and bustle.

Now that we are out of the end of the year rush, I hope to be able to concentrate on setting up our own website.  It’s a new adventure for all of us.  If any of you know how to set up a website or know someone we should talk to, please let me know.  Meanwhile, be sure to visit on www.MRSPA.org to see all that is there for you from the state association.  Please visit and get familiar with your Association.  We hope that we will be able to let you link to it from our own site…..soon.

This is the month to be checking in with the happenings at the legislature in Maryland.  Our chair for this is Jannette Wundrow.  She will be giving us the low-down on all that is happening.  There is much going on out there that may affect your retirement and the ability of our school systems to find new teachers and school employees……let alone, keep the ones they have.

Your Echoes should be at your door soon.  There is a lot there for you to assure that you are as informed as we are able to put together.  Many thanks go to Alice Hutchinson for her continued good editorial skills that make it possible for us.  If you can, plan to attend the January meeting at PGCEA Center.  We will, again, have the boxed lunches that are well received.  Our guest speaker will be Dr. Hite, who will be able to let us know how he thinks things are going in the Prince George’s County schools.  You don’t want to miss it!

Have a great December and see you in the New Year!

bonnie
